Community Guidelines
Effective date: July 16, 2026
1. Our Purpose
Parul exists to help people connect around pets, responsible care, adoption, rescue, and community support. These Community Guidelines apply to profiles, pet companion pages, posts, comments, messages, circles, communities, adoption listings, post-adoption care updates, rescue cases, lost-and-found alerts, images, usernames, and all other activity on Parul.
Follow the spirit as well as the wording of these rules. Community or circle administrators may set additional rules, but they cannot allow conduct prohibited by Parul.
2. Be Respectful and Safe
Do not bully, harass, threaten, shame, stalk, blackmail, sexually harass, or repeatedly contact someone after they have asked you to stop.
Do not target people based on protected characteristics or encourage hatred, dehumanisation, exclusion, or violence.
Do not organise dogpiling, publish humiliating private material, or use pet-care disagreements as an excuse for personal abuse. Criticise ideas and conduct without attacking people.
3. Protect Animals
Content that celebrates, encourages, organises, or depicts deliberate animal cruelty, neglect, torture, staged fights, or exploitation is prohibited. Educational or documentary content may be allowed when presented responsibly and without glorification.
Do not use animals as prizes, promote dangerous handling, encourage abandonment, or pressure someone into an unsafe adoption.
Urgent welfare concerns should be reported through the app and, when appropriate, to a qualified veterinarian, rescue organisation, animal-welfare authority, or emergency service.
4. Adoption Rules
Adoptions on Parul are always free — never pay, and never charge. Requesting deposits, "rehoming fees," or any payment for an animal is prohibited and may lead to immediate removal and account termination.
Adoption listings must be honest, current, and focused on the animal's welfare. Clearly disclose known behavioural, health, vaccination, sterilisation, ownership, or special-care information where relevant and lawful.
Do not post fake listings, misrepresent ownership, hide serious known risks, or use adoption as a cover for prohibited commercial sales.
Parul may remove listings involving illegal breeding, trafficking, protected wildlife, animals obtained unlawfully, or activity that conflicts with applicable animal-welfare law.
After an adoption: adopters are expected to post the periodic care check-ins the app requests (with at least one photo), honestly reflecting the pet's condition. Previous owners should give recommendations ("trust flags") fairly, based on the placement — not as retaliation in unrelated disputes. If a placement does not work out, use the in-app return flow rather than abandoning or informally transferring the animal.
Users should verify identity and relevant records, meet safely, and conduct appropriate suitability checks.
5. Rescue and Lost-and-Found Rules
Rescue cases and lost-and-found alerts must be truthful and should include only information reasonably necessary to help the animal.
Do not fabricate emergencies, recycle another person's case, falsely claim to represent an organisation, manipulate images, or collect money using misleading claims.
Do not publish a private home address, a child's location, access codes, sensitive identification documents, or precise information that could place a person or animal at risk. Use an approximate area and share exact details privately with verified helpers when appropriate.
Mark a case or alert as resolved when the animal is safe, reunited, transferred, or no longer missing.
6. No Scams, Spam, or Manipulation
Do not run scams, phishing attempts, fraudulent fundraising, fake giveaways, impersonation, chain messages, engagement manipulation, repetitive advertising, or bulk unsolicited messaging.
Do not ask users for passwords, one-time codes, bank credentials, government identifiers, or unnecessary sensitive information.
Do not abuse paid messaging or Treats features to pressure, spam, or harass other users. Paying to send a message does not entitle you to a response.
Commercial promotion must be lawful, transparent, relevant, and permitted by the feature. Hidden advertising and deceptive endorsements are prohibited.
7. Illegal and Regulated Activity
Do not use Parul to buy, sell, trade, arrange, or promote illegal goods or services. This includes protected wildlife, unlawfully obtained animals, animal-fighting services, forged records, or other prohibited transactions.
Do not provide instructions that facilitate serious wrongdoing, evasion of authorities, or harm to people or animals.
8. Privacy and Personal Information
Respect privacy. Do not publish or threaten to publish another person's private contact details, precise location, financial information, identity documents, private messages, medical information, or intimate material without a lawful and appropriate reason and permission.
Do not impersonate another person, rescue group, shelter, veterinarian, business, or public authority. Fan or parody accounts must be clearly labelled and must not deceive users.
Obtain permission before posting identifiable images or information about other people, especially children.
9. Appropriate Content
Do not post sexually explicit content, sexual exploitation, graphic cruelty, gratuitously disturbing imagery, or content designed primarily to shock.
When sharing an injury, rescue, or medical situation for a legitimate welfare purpose, use the least graphic image necessary, add a clear content warning, and avoid sensational captions.
Do not encourage dangerous acts, abusive training methods, or unqualified medical treatment. Parul does not provide veterinary consultation; seek a qualified professional for medical concerns.
10. Authenticity and Misinformation
Do not create deceptive accounts, coordinate fake engagement, alter evidence to mislead users, or knowingly spread false information that could cause significant harm to an animal or person.
Do not post fake care check-ins, stage recovery photos, or manipulate recommendations and trust flags.
Clearly distinguish personal experience from professional advice. Do not claim to be a veterinarian, rescue authority, shelter, breeder, or organisation unless that claim is genuine and, where applicable, verifiable.
11. Intellectual Property
Post only content you created or have permission to use. Do not copy photographs, logos, articles, videos, or listings in a way that violates another person's rights. Give appropriate credit where required, but credit alone does not replace permission.
12. Communities, Circles, and Messages
Community administrators should publish clear rules, apply them fairly, protect member privacy, and escalate serious platform-wide violations to Parul.
Private circles and messages are not permission to violate these Guidelines. Do not add users repeatedly after they leave, bypass blocks, or share private conversations without a legitimate safety or legal reason.
13. Reporting and Blocking
Use the in-app report option for content, listings, messages, communities, or accounts that may violate these Guidelines. Select the most accurate reason and include relevant context. Do not submit knowingly false or retaliatory reports.
Use blocking to prevent unwanted interaction. Do not create another account to bypass a block.
For immediate danger, contact the relevant local emergency, animal-welfare, or law-enforcement authority. Parul support: support@parul.pet.
14. Enforcement
Depending on severity, context, risk, and history, Parul may remove content, limit reach, close listings or cases, restrict messaging or posting, remove users from communities, issue warnings, temporarily suspend accounts, permanently ban accounts, preserve evidence, or contact relevant authorities.
Some harmful content may be removed even when intent is unclear. Severe violations — including animal cruelty, animal sales, and scams — may lead to immediate action without a prior warning. We may also act against attempts to evade enforcement.
Appeals may be submitted to support@parul.pet. An appeal should explain why the decision may be incorrect and include relevant information.
15. Guidance for Safer Offline Meetings
When meeting for adoption, rescue, or return of a lost pet, choose a safe public or professional location where practical, tell a trusted person, verify identities and relevant records, avoid carrying unnecessary cash, and leave if the situation feels unsafe.
Users who are minors must involve a parent or legal guardian in any offline meeting or animal transfer.
16. Updates and Contact
We may update these Guidelines as the community and Service evolve. The current version will always be published with its effective date.
