Child Safety

1. Our Position

Parul has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Content, conduct, or accounts that sexualise, exploit, endanger, or facilitate the abuse of a child are prohibited on Parul without exception, and we remove them and act against the accounts responsible.

These Standards apply everywhere on Parul: profiles, pet companion pages, posts, comments, direct messages, message requests, circle chats, community posts, adoption listings and adoption chats, rescue cases and rescue chats, lost-and-found alerts, post-adoption care updates, memorial tributes, usernames, images, and any other content or interaction the Service supports. They sit alongside our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service and do not replace them.

2. What Is Prohibited

The following are prohibited on Parul. This list describes the conduct we act on; it is not a limit on what we may act on.

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, drawing, rendering, or other depiction of a child in a sexual context, and any link, file, or reference that leads to it.
• Sexualisation of a child — presenting a child in a sexualised way in any content, including captions, comments, usernames, profile text, pet page content, or messages, whether or not an image is involved.
• Grooming — building a relationship with a child, or with a person a user believes to be a child, in order to sexually exploit or abuse them; this includes flattery, gifts, secrecy, isolation from adults, and moving a conversation off Parul for those purposes.
• Sextortion — threatening to share a child's intimate images or information in order to obtain more content, money, or compliance.
• Solicitation — asking a child for sexual content, sexual contact, or a private meeting for those purposes.
• Trafficking and offline exploitation — using Parul to advertise, arrange, or coordinate the sexual exploitation, sale, or transfer of a child.
• Facilitating any of the above — sharing techniques, contacts, external links, communities, or code words that help another person do any of it, or knowingly assisting someone who is.

None of this is permitted as fiction, satire, art, or commentary, and none of it becomes permissible because it happened in a private message or a private circle.

3. Minimum Age

Parul is for people aged 13 and over, as set out in Terms of Service section 2 and Privacy Policy section 11, and in any country where a higher minimum age applies, that age applies instead.

We ask for a date of birth when an account is created, on every sign-up route, and we refuse the account if the person is below the minimum age. Accounts we find to belong to someone below the minimum age are removed. Users below the age of legal majority should use Parul only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian where that is required.

4. Risks Specific to Parul

Parul arranges real-world contact between people who may not know each other — adoption handovers, fostering, rescue call-outs, transport, and the return of lost pets. Those situations, and the private messaging that surrounds them, are where a service like ours carries child-safety risk. We treat them accordingly.

• Offline meetings. Giving or receiving an animal requires you to be at least 18, or to have a parent or legal guardian directly involved in the handover, as set out in Terms of Service section 2. Where a minor takes part in any offline meeting arranged through Parul — an adoption, a rescue call-out, transport, or the return of a lost pet — a parent or legal guardian must be involved, as required by Community Guidelines section 15.
• Private messaging. Direct messages, message requests, adoption chats, rescue chats, and circle chats are covered by these Standards in full and are reportable from inside the conversation.
• Images of children. Do not post identifiable images or information about a child without the permission of their parent or legal guardian. Photographs of a family pet are welcome; photographs that make a child identifiable are not yours to publish without that permission.
• Moving off-platform. Pressure to continue a conversation with a young user on another service, especially one with disappearing messages, is treated as a child-safety signal, not a neutral preference.

5. How to Report

Anyone can report, whether or not they have a Parul account.

• In the app: every post, comment, direct message, circle message, community post, circle, community, listing, and profile carries a report option in its menu. Choose the most accurate reason and include any context you can.
• By email, for urgent or serious child-safety concerns: childsafety@parul.pet. Use this if the content is not reachable in the app, if you cannot use the in-app report, or if a child is at immediate risk.
• To the authorities. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or child-protection authority first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for that, and you do not need to wait for us before doing it.

Do not download, copy, forward, or re-share suspected CSAE material in order to report it. Send us the location of the content — a link, a username, a circle name, or a description of where you saw it — and nothing more. Reporter identities are not disclosed to the person reported.

6. How We Respond

Reports that concern child safety are prioritised above all other report types.

• We preserve the relevant account records and content for investigation and for the authorities, and we do so before removing anything.
• We remove the content and any copies of it we identify.
• We terminate the accounts involved. A termination for CSAE is permanent. Unlike other enforcement outcomes described in our Terms, it does not carry an appeal, and we do not restore the account.
• We restrict related accounts where we have reason to believe they belong to the same person.
• We review reports using automated tools and human review, as described in Terms of Service section 12.

We do not publish the details of our detection methods, because doing so helps the people we are trying to stop.

7. Working With Authorities

We cooperate with law enforcement and with child-protection authorities. Where we are required or permitted to do so, we report CSAE to the appropriate authority in the relevant jurisdiction, and we preserve and disclose the information necessary for them to act, in line with the safety and legal disclosures described in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

Legal process from law enforcement relating to child safety should be sent to childsafety@parul.pet and will be routed to the person responsible for child safety at Parul.

8. Circle and Community Administrators

Anyone who runs a circle or a community on Parul is responsible for what happens inside it. Administrators must report CSAE they encounter rather than handling it privately, must not use their position to reach or isolate a young member, and may not set rules that permit conduct these Standards prohibit. Failing to report CSAE you are aware of is itself a violation.

10. Review and Updates

We review these Standards at least once a year and whenever the Service changes in a way that affects child safety. The current version is always published here with its effective date, and material changes are announced in the app.
